Journal #1: Who are you as a writer? Do you like to write? What do you write? What is your favorite genre? Explore your writing "skill set" - what are they?
As a writer, I'm still a beginner. In my life time I've had to have written at least 100 papers and essays and I'm still learning how to perfect them. I do like to write. I love it. But it's a constant learning process. I like to write anything. Stories, poems, different things. I journal a lot, and I like to write down my thoughts, especially when it seems like I have to many. My favorite genre is poetry, I love poetry! I coul read it all day. Like Walt Whitman, Virginia Woolf, etc. I think that I have a lot of skills in writing, I love elaborating on my thoughts. But like I've mentioned, I think I'm still learning how to become a "good writer."
Reflection: I liked this journal because I was really able to think about who I am as a writer and how I like to write. This semester I really learned to become a better writer so it's interesting to read this from the beginning of the semester.
Journal #2:
What "group" have you been put in? Who are your group members? Can you tell me about the characteristics of this Harry Potter house? Look up some information about the "house" and summarize your findings.
I am in Hufflepuff. My group members are Hannah Rash, Aroz Abdelrazig, Abdul Wahab, and Juana Loeza. I loved Hufflepuff in the series, but I feel like their house was the one of least recognition. Anyone who is chosen to be in Hufflepuff is someone who is loyal, true, and brave. "You might belong in Hufflepuff, where they are just and loyal, those patient Hufflepuffs are true, and unafraid of toil." -The Sorting Hat.
Hufflepuffs are the gentle ones who are a friend to all and they are slow to anger. Hufflepuff is considered th emost inclusive of the four houses, and they put an emphasis on hardwork, fairness, and loyalty. Members like Susan Bones and Justin Finch-Fletchley are great examples of a good Hufflepuff, both being kind and patient. As well as Cedric Diggory- a boy who was kind and a friend to all; he went so far as to help Harry during the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
The colors of the house are yellow and black, representing wheat and dirt, making Hufflepuff in close relation to earth. The house animal is the badger. Hufflepuff is the last house to have a rivalry in Quidditch, except regarding to the Triwizard Tournament, when Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory were co-Champions.
Hufflepuff is the caring house of Hogwarts. The friendly sibling.
Reflection: I really liked doing this journal because I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter; probably not as much as Professor Intawiwat, but I love Harry Potter! I watch the movies regularly, and I love to reread the books!
What kind of researcher are you? How have you done your research in the past compared for our extended inquiry?
I would like to think that I am an extensive researcher. I like to look into all of my choices for resources. I don't just restrict myself to online sources, I like to look at books and newspapers, maybe magazines. I think the only thing that changed about my researching during this project was how exactly thorough I am in my research. For this project I had to make sure I fully read everything possible for all of my resources and prospective resources. This project taught me how to be thorough, and also more patient in my research. Sometimes I can find myself to get frustrated if I don't find the right sources. This project taught me otherwise!
Reflection: This was a good journal as a recap for the semester and the project. It was good to think about what I've learned this semester as a researcher.
